Two National Trust car parks at Porth, both on the right as you arrive from Gerrans: the higher car park beside the cafe (what3words winner.exchanges.shifters) and the lower car park down the lane past the holiday cottages (what3words urge.trade.fruitcake). NT members and Blue Badge holders park free; members scan for a ticket. Non-members: £2.50 up to 1 hour, £5.00 up to 4 hours, £9.00 all day. The pay and display machines take coins only and need exact change; JustPark also accepted, location code 80652 (download the app before arriving, mobile reception is patchy).
Park strictly only in the two Porth car parks, never in the farmer's fields, and respect the residents of the cottages; the area gets very busy on hot summer days.
Driving pin: the higher car park's what3words square, which resolves to 50.157759, -4.98689, 15 m from the National Trust's own coordinate and beside the Google listing for Porth Farm House. The lower car park resolves to 50.158325, -4.986932, 60 m further north.
Bus 50 (Truro to St Mawes via Portscatho) serves the peninsula; the Trust gives no bus directions for Porth itself.
Enter this code in JustPark to pay, or at the machine. Members park free after checking in.
Porth is a National Trust farm settlement on the Roseland peninsula between Portscatho and St Anthony Head, farmed for at least 700 years, its nineteenth-century buildings now cottages with a concession cafe and toilets. Across the lane lies Towan beach, a long strip of sand that changes shape with every season and storm, while the South West Coast Path and a web of footpaths lead through woods, beside Froe creek and over farmland. Killigerran Head looks across Gerrans Bay to Nare Head and Gull Rock, and cirl buntings, reintroduced to the Roseland in 2006, sing from the hedges. Reviewers praise the cafe's breakfasts, coffee and clean toilets, and note there are no dog waste bins. Tips from the Trust: park only in the two Porth car parks, and expect a drop from the concrete ramp onto the beach after storms shift the sand. Dogs are welcome all year on a short lead. The one-mile Porth Creek all-weather trail starts from the lower car park.
The National Trust calendar lists the countryside as open dawn to dusk every day to the end of 2026.
The cafe is tenant run (not National Trust); the toilets, including an accessible toilet in the main block near the cafe, open when the cafe is open.
All-weather path around Froe creek and the woods from the lower car park, gravelled on the lower section where robust pushchairs and wheelchairs may manage, then a steep zig-zag through the woods. Beach access is down an uneven concrete ramp; the levels change as sand moves after big storms or tides, sometimes leaving a big drop and uncovering boulders.
Dogs are welcome all year round on a short lead; livestock may be in the fields, so keep to the footpaths. The car park has limited shade, so do not leave dogs in vehicles. Reviewers note there are no dog waste bins.

Dogs at the location: Allowed with restrictions. Dogs are welcome at Porth all year round on a short lead; keep to the footpaths where livestock may be in the fields.
Dog walks in the grounds: Allowed with restrictions. Woodlands, coast path and beaches are open to dogs on a short lead; livestock may be in the fields nearby, so stick to the footpaths. Free access, no ticket needed.
Leads: Short lead across the site to limit wildlife disturbance; close control at all times and on a lead near livestock; let dogs off the lead only if cattle approach, then recall.
Seasonal dog restrictions: None stated; the Trust says to watch local signs for any beach dog bans.
