National Trust car park on the Durgan road, free for members; GBP 5 all day for non-members

Parking details

National Trust pay and display car park half a mile south-west of Mawnan Smith on the lane signposted Durgan, off the Helford Passage road. Non-members pay GBP 2.50 for four hours or GBP 5 all day; National Trust members park free by scanning their card at the machine or checking in with the JustPark app (location code 80523). No overnight stays.

The Trust's own page is inconsistent on the tariff: its prices note says GBP 5 all day or GBP 2.50 for four hours, while the parking accordion says GBP 4 all day or GBP 2 for two hours. The higher figures match the JustPark tariff recorded for code 80523 and are used here.

The map pin is the car park entrance on the Durgan lane (satnav postcode TR11 5JR), beside Bosveal Farm. Durgan village and its beach are 0.8 miles downhill on foot; there is no vehicle access or parking in Durgan for visitors.

Bus 35 (First, Falmouth to Helston via Constantine, not Sundays) stops outside Glendurgan Garden; cross the road, follow the path and then the lane signposted Durgan to the car park. Falmouth Town station is 24 minutes from Truro, then a 17-minute walk to the bus at The Moor.

About

Bosveal is a National Trust countryside area of wooded valleys, coastal hay meadows and small coves on the north shore of the Helford River near Mawnan Smith, part of more than 300 acres the Trust cares for between Glendurgan and Maenporth. From the car park on the Durgan road, waymarked walks lead around the grounds of Bosloe house to meadows with views to the mouth of the river, down to the beach at Grebe, and on a longer loop into Carwinion Woods, good for birds and wildflowers. The coast path runs east past Porth Saxon and Prisk Cove to Rosemullion Head, where the Helford meets Falmouth Bay, and west through Durgan to the ferry at Helford Passage. Reviewers like the easy walks, the sheltered water for swimming and the choice of three beaches within a short walk of the car park; one tip is to expect tree roots on the path down to the cove. Dogs are welcome on leads, and the beaches are dog-friendly all year.
