Trevose Head is arguably the most prominent headland on Cornwall's north coast, with views from Pendeen Watch in the west to Hartland Point in the east. A narrow lane crosses arable fields before the land ends in sheer cliffs at Dinas Head and the Round Hole, a huge hollow left when a cave roof collapsed. Trevose Lighthouse and the RNLI's Padstow Lifeboat Station share the headland, and around 32 hectares of cliff and grassland are protected for rare plants such as shore dock, wild asparagus and golden samphire. Look for skylarks, fulmars and razorbills, and grey seals in the water below. Reviewers single out the coastal walks and far-reaching views, and some warn how windy it can be. Tips from visitors: keep children close near the sheer-sided Round Hole, and note there are no toilets. Dogs are welcome under close control. A two-mile circular Trust walk from the scenic car park follows the coast path around the tip.
The headland and car parks are open dawn to dusk. No overnight camping or parking.
The seasonal (field) car park opens from Easter to October because of planning restrictions; the scenic car park is open all year.
A Mini Melt kiosk trades in summer at the field car park. There are no toilets.
The headland is free for everyone. Parking at the Trust car parks is charged separately for non-members.
Non-members pay to park.
National Trust members and Blue Badge holders park free; members scan for a ticket. Non-members pay £2.50 up to 1 hour, £5 up to 4 hours or £9 all day. The pay and display machines take coins only (no notes) and need exact change; JustPark also works (Scenic car park 80696, Seasonal car park 80697), and members are not charged.
The scenic car park at the tip of the headland (what3words ///clauses.dabbing.dispenser) is open all year; the seasonal field car park, for easier access to Booby's Bay, opens from Easter to October. Both open dawn to dusk, with no overnight parking or camping.
Enter the code for your car park in JustPark to pay, or at the machine. Members park free after checking in.
