1.8 miles (2.88km), easy, about 45 minutes, in 8 stages. Starts from the National Trust additional parking area, Reach Road, St Margaret's at Cliffe, Dover CT15 6HY, Ordnance Survey reference TR 3492 4324. A mix of grass paths, gravel tracks and surfaced tracks, with gentle slopes apart from a short moderate incline at Fan Bay; grass paths become soft and muddy in wet weather. The Fan Bay Deep Shelter compound may not be reachable by wheelchair or mobility scooter because of steps and a slope. The coast path passes close to the cliff edge in places, where the Trust asks for dogs to be kept on a lead. The route is dog-friendly throughout and dogs are welcome in the lighthouse grounds, with water bowls at Fan Bay Deep Shelter and the lighthouse when open; only assistance dogs may enter Fan Bay Deep Shelter itself.

Starts at the National Trust Gateway to the White Cliffs Visitor Centre, Dover CT16 1HJ, grid reference TR 336 422, and ends at the entrance gate ticket hut of Dover Castle, Castle Hill, Dover CT16 1HU, grid reference TR 324 416. Surfaced footpaths and footways throughout, steep in places with flights of steps at both ends, unsuitable for wheelchairs or mobility scooters and possibly for buggies. Some footways run alongside busy roads. Admission to Dover Castle itself is not covered by this route.
