Hambledon Hill

Hambledon Hill is a prominent chalk hill crowned by a massive Neolithic causewayed enclosure and Iron Age hill fort, with earthworks spanning over 5,000 years of human activity. The site saw dramatic conflict during the English Civil War when Clubmen — local people opposing both sides — were routed by Oliver Cromwell's forces. The steep slopes support species-rich chalk grassland with orchids, butterflies, and commanding views over the Blackmore Vale.
