Townend is a well-preserved 17th-century Lakeland farmhouse in the village of Troutbeck, home to the Browne family for over 300 years. The house contains an exceptional collection of carved woodwork, books, papers and domestic implements that record the life of a prosperous yeoman farming family. It is one of the finest examples of Lake District vernacular architecture.
