The National Trust says 'Private home. No designated parking.' Reviewers describe a very small lay-by right outside the house and plenty of parking on the surrounding village streets; none of it is run by the Trust.
The map pin is the house itself at Church Street, Martock, TA12 6JL, the arrival point for this village house; the NT pin, the Google listing and the geocoded address agree to within 20 m.
By road the house is 1 mile north-west of the A303 between Ilminster and Ilchester.
Treasurer's House in Martock is a small medieval house, one of the oldest inhabited houses in Somerset and still a private home that the National Trust opens on a limited number of days each season. The Great Hall was completed in 1293, a kitchen was added in the 15th century, and the solar block keeps an unusual medieval wall painting. The house began as the parsonage of the neighbouring church and took its name from the Treasurer of Wells Cathedral, who later held it. Visits are by guided tour, led by the tenants or a volunteer, and reviewers praise their knowledge, single out the hall and the old kitchen, admire the courtyard garden and treat the house as a quick stop between Montacute, Tintinhull and Barrington Court. Tips from visitors: opening days are very limited, so check the Trust's page or ring before setting out and book the tour where asked; there is only a small lay-by outside, with more parking on the village streets, and no toilets.
Closed for the 2026 season; the National Trust notice reads 'Treasurer's House is now closed for 2026. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2027.' The calendar shows the house closed on every day to 31 December 2026.
A private home opened by the Trust on a limited number of days by guided tour. In the 2026 season reviewers reported Sunday and Monday afternoon openings with tours led by the tenants or a volunteer; check the National Trust page or ring 01935 825015 for 2027 dates before travelling.
No toilets, no designated parking and limited accessibility; the Trust links an access statement from the place page.
