Cadw lists no designated parking. Visitors describe a small lay-by or parking bay a little way up the lane north of the field entrance and a short walk back along the road; nothing is published about it, so the status is recorded as none. Turning north off the A4080, the entrance is on the right, signed as an ancient monument with a Cadw information board. Cross the stile and follow the fenced path about 125 m along the field edge to the tomb; the field may be ploughed or muddy and the only way in is over the stile. Grazing animals may be in neighbouring fields.
Driving pin: Cadw's own arrival point at the roadside stile and signs, 124 m west of its marker on the tomb. By road: 0.7 miles north-east of Llanfaelog, off the A4080. National Cycle Network route 8 passes 3.3 km away.
Tŷ Newydd Chambered Tomb, Beddrod Siambr Tŷ Newydd, is a Neolithic burial chamber in the corner of a farm field beside a lane off the A4080, north-east of Llanfaelog. Its wedge-shaped capstone, 12 feet by 5 feet and up to 4 feet thick, rests on three of the four surviving uprights and is now partly held up by brick supports added to stabilise it. The round cairn that once covered the chamber has gone, its line marked out by small bollards. Excavations in 1936 found pottery and an arrowhead of the later Beaker and Bronze Age periods, showing that the tomb had a long working life, and prehistoric cup marks have more recently been detected on the capstone. Visitors like the huge stone and the quiet setting, though the modern props divide opinion. Cross the stile at the signed field entrance and follow the fenced path about 125 metres along the field edge; the field can be ploughed or muddy.
