About
Wroxeter was once the fourth largest city in Roman Britain, and its surviving bath-house walls give an immediate sense of the scale of the settlement beneath the surrounding fields. Around the excavated civic centre, the audio guide explains how bathing, trading and social life fitted together, while finds in the museum reveal more everyday details of food, medicine and shopping. A raised platform helps you read the layout before exploring at ground level. Across a small road, a reconstructed Roman town house, built for the television series Rome Wasn't Built in a Day, makes a useful comparison with the foundations outside. Families often praise the games and interactive displays, and visitors find the volunteers helpful in bringing the remains into focus. Bring a picnic, as there is a drinks machine but no full cafe, and expect uneven gravel and cobbles. Dogs must stay on leads and cannot enter the museum.

Open daily 10:00-17:00 until 24 October 2026, then daily 10:00-16:00 from 25 October to 1 November. From 2 November to 2026-12-20, open weekends 10:00-16:00. Check the official calendar for holiday and later dates.
Last admission is one hour before closing.
EH members receive free standard admission with a valid membership card. National Trust membership alone does not cover admission. Ordinary advance booking is optional; special events can have separate arrangements.
Accessibility: Ramped visitor-centre access and a mostly accessible site, but grass, cobbles and gravel make assistance useful for manual wheelchair users. Cross a small road to reach the reconstructed town house.
Parking: Free parking for approximately 25-30 vehicles next to the visitor entrance.
EH warns of cycle-race traffic disruption on the B5061/B4380 between 10:00 and 13:00 on 13 September 2026. Refreshments are limited to a drinks machine and shop.
Dogs: Dogs must be on leads; pet dogs are not permitted in the museum. The museum dog restriction explicitly exempts service animals.
