Sunnycroft is a rare surviving example of a suburban Victorian villa in Wellington, Shropshire, the kind of genteel family home that once lined the streets of every English market town but has largely been swept away by development. The house and its contents were left virtually unchanged by the last owner, Joan Lander, who bequeathed it to the National Trust in 1997. The interiors are filled with original furniture, family photographs and everyday objects, creating an extraordinarily evocative time capsule of middle-class domestic life from the Edwardian era to the 1990s.
