The Trust states 'There is no parking for Coed Môr' and gives the nearest public parking (not NT) as what3words ///bonfires.funds.bagpipes, which resolves to the roadside of the A5 Holyhead Road at 53.222523, -4.183626. Reviewers describe this as a lay-by with views of both bridges that fills up quickly, with a steep but even grassy path down to the wood, and say parking is free.
By road: cross the Britannia Bridge, leave at junction 8A onto the A5 Holyhead Road towards Llanfairpwllgwyngyll; the Trust's directions take you to the Carreg Bran Hotel on Lon Refail, from which Coed Môr is a short walk down the track to the left of the hotel. Satnav LL61 5YH.
Bus X4 from Bangor stops at Carreg Bran; head east on the A5, turn right, then left.
Coed Môr is a National Trust woodland on the Anglesey shore of the Menai Strait, between the Britannia Bridge and the Menai Suspension Bridge, looking across to the mountains of Eryri. Paths and wooden walkways weave in and out of the canopy, pass beneath the Britannia Bridge and lead to a bird hide where cormorants and wading birds feed, and resident red squirrels reward patient watchers. The shoreline between the two bridges can be walked as an alternative to the boardwalks, with the island house in the middle of the Strait where the tide races past. Reviewers praise the views of both bridges and the mountains, the wildflowers along the walkways and the hide for waterbirds. Tips from visitors: there is no car park, so most people use the busy lay-by on the A5 above the wood and take the steep grassy path down. Dogs should be kept on leads at all times. The woodland paths run under the bridge and along the shore.
Open woodland and shoreline from dawn to dusk every day; the Trust's calendar shows every day to 31 December 2026 fully open.
No car park, toilets or other facilities. Steps and uneven terrain on the woodland paths and boardwalks; the path down from the A5 lay-by is steep.
Dogs should be kept on leads at all times.
