Wasdale is one of the most dramatic valleys in the Lake District, home to England's deepest lake (Wast Water) and highest mountain (Scafell Pike). The iconic view of the Wasdale Head screes plunging into the dark waters of the lake is one of the most photographed scenes in the national park. The valley is a key starting point for ascents of Scafell Pike and Great Gable.
