Bowder Stone

The Bowder Stone is a giant balanced boulder in Borrowdale, weighing nearly 2,000 tonnes. A wooden ladder allows visitors to climb to the top for views across the valley, and a hand-reach tunnel passes beneath. Set amid ancient oak woodland, the stone has been a popular curiosity since the 18th century.
