Wordsworth House is the Georgian townhouse in Cockermouth where the poet William Wordsworth was born in 1770 and spent his formative childhood years. The house has been furnished to reflect life in the 1770s, with hands-on displays and costumed guides bringing the period to life. The riverside garden, which Wordsworth described in The Prelude, runs down to the River Derwent.
